There had been a war dance, and he had been required to take part, to show his agility and endurance. He had been taught the stylized language of the warpath, and when he was ready, Page 39 he had accompanied the proven warriors on four raids. He had not been allowed to fight yet, but had been assigned menial tasks, like building the fires, preparing and cooking the food, looking after the horses, standing guard at night.
